High Days and Holidays

Last week myself, hubby and the Pups packed way more stuff than we needed and headed off for Cornwall. I figured since we are now 90 miles closer than before it wouldn't be the marathon trip it was from the Midlands. How wrong I was.
5. Hours. In. A. Car. With. Kids.
And it was scorching hot so poor Luna the lab had to be re-positioned on the back seat between myself and one of the pups so she could benefit from the air con. Never again I kept cursing to myself whilst mentally wanting to batter the road planner who decided reducing the dual carriageway to one lane just past Jamaica Inn was a good idea.

But it was all worth it for this.

Yep that's me. And my "vintage" body board that I bought 21 years ago for my 18 birthday! It felt so good getting back on it again.....has easily been 10 + years since I last used it. Wetsuits. So handy with freezing cold water but so unflattering!!!

A week filled with memories, some happy, the odd one not so happy.....

Simple pleasures like sand.

Castle doorways. I do like my doorways.

Flip flops. Complete with broken toe thanks to an unfortunate accident.
I promise you I do have shorts on and they really weren't the size of hotpants no matter what this picture would have you believe!

Big guns.

Big bird. (Thankfully not he of the Yellow and annoying Seasame Street fame).

Free air displays :)

More free air displays. I do love my things that fly.

Stunning views and amazing skies.

Jousting and a rainbow of coloured bunting. My happy cup overflows.

The best thing? Coming back to Wiltshire instead of the West Midlands and not having that post holiday depression. Sure it's land locked county (nothings perfect hey) but it feels like home in a way the Midlands never did, despite it being my home for 38 years of my life. There's no place like home :)

Big Willie Style

We have just returned from a lovely holiday from near here. Pup2 was fascinated with the Cerne Abbas Giant and his big willy.

Sadly though his outline in chalk was quite dull and as such didn't show up as well as you can see in this pic.

After months of awful, awful wet weather we had a week of dry and reasonably sunny weather to be proud of.

I shan't bore you with anymore. Needless to say there are significantly more pics but I could be here all day. We spent the week in the caravan of death. The day after we arrived Pup2 decided to finally come down with the chicken pox I've been wishing her to contract for months. Husband was poorly with a terrible sore throat and Pup1 decided to puke everywhere on our penultimate night. Inspite of all of this we had a great time. Off again at the end of the month :) Here's hoping that holiday is illness free.

Just need a holiday now to recover from the holiday.

Beaches.

Nope not the Bette Midler film that makes you weep but the thing you find next to the sea.
This pretty much encapsulates how I feel about the beach and the ocean. Best of all it was lying there, untouched in a wonderful heart shape.
I have come to the conclusion I am a tactile person. I like nothing more than stroking the smooth pages of an unused notebook and the round smooth curves of a pebble off the beach.
Being a pisces I am most definately a water baby. I could spend hours sitting watching the waves roll onshore.
Living in the landlocked Midlands going to the sea is like manna for my soul. I feel instantly better, especially more on blue sky days like this one.
Who needs fancy toys when all you need is a spade and an endless supply of sand.
Personally I don't think there are enough red and white buildings around.
A sneaky purchase from Sandringham. A £20 note mug :) For me to visualise wealth flowing to me as I drink my coffee.

Hope you enjoyed a wee peek at some of my holiday pics. Pup1 is already asking to go back on his holidays. Wouldn't we all like to son.
