It seems pertinent that a change of season brings forth a new change in our lives. Autumn is fast taking shape, leaves turning and falling to the ground, another season, another chapter.
These charming ladybird stones were painted by my husband. His fortune making scheme that he came up with when he was made redundant at the end of July. Thankfully (or regretfully ;)) this charming scheme is no longer a necessity since he not only managed to find gainful employment (a rarity these days), he also managed to snag an even better job than the last one.
However the new job is currently 2 hours drive from our current home. The last two weeks have been filled with adrenaline, blind panic, plan making and decorating. Lots and lots of decorating. And there is still more to complete. If my blog writing hadn't already been sporadic then over the coming months it certainly will be as I juggle life with an absent husband during the week, a house in sore need of some TLC before being put on the market and then the final push to move down to be with him.
I will blog when I can but I confess my days are currently a heady mix of satinwood gloss paint (which my mother is weilding as she is press ganged into action) and emulsion drips. Its a minor miracle I manage to cook an evening meal each day.
So if you will bear with me during this change of season in our lives, I have not dropped off the face of the planet but the desire to reunite our little family as soon as possible is my biggest priority at the moment.
Enjoy your change of season, whatever that may be.

And it looks like we've made it.....
.....yes it looks like we've made to the end.
Got to love a bit of Blur. This song was always played at the end of the evening in my favourite nightclub in my "yoof".
Seems to be rather fitting and melancholy that I played it today. I am suffering with post Olympic blues. The last 16 days had been filled with joy, positivity, excitement, disappointment but most of all fun.
For once we were not subjected to an endless dribble of bad news.
For once Great Britian had something to feel good about, to hold its head up with pride rather than slink away shamefaced.
I never intended to get so caught up in the games. It was infectious. I am rather glad I did.
There's been lots written about the games but this piece in the Sydney Morning Herald sums it up for me.
"But what I will remember about these Olympics, beyond even the blur of Bolt or the manic exuberance of Sally Pearson, is the manner in which a nation with a bit more on its plate right now than judo and badminton rose to the occasion. Often quite literally, thanks to their inspiring athletes.
Well said :)
There are thousands of pictures and endless minutes of footage that do more justice to the games than I ever could. So I shall instead share with you a video of some of the members of Team GB. You can't beat people who don't take themselves too seriously :)

Well done you magnificent Pommy bastards."

A new dawn, it's a new day.....
So the end of one year and a start of another. Hello 2012.
I like new, fresh starts.
Don't understand all the hype and celebration of New Years Eve. I prefer to quietly look forward to new challenges of the new year rather than over excitement at the change of the date. i suspect some of this attitude is a come down after the Christmas festivities and the realisation that it will all soon be over.
I don't make resolutions but I would be lying if I said I didn't have goals for the coming months. But for some reason I prefer goals, sounds less all or nothing than a resolution, more flexible and adaptable.
The laptop is still being a total PITA and I gave up trying to get it to upload my pics of the Christmas cake I decorated. It was either give up or risk throwing the lappy out of the window.
I will leave you with the sound of Nina Simone. This song never fails to give me chills.

Happy New Year, hope it brings you all your hearts desires.

6 Months.....looking back
Sooooo it's halfway through 2011 and inspired by A Thrifty Mrs post I thought I'd look back at the last 6 months and the good things that occurred.
- Recently celebrated 7 years of marriage and 16 years of being together with my beloved
- Started to learn how to sew. Believe me I've not wanted to attempt ANY sewing before. Ever. Last time my mum gave me a sewing lesson I was 9. I am now 36! But I've got the bug and made a couple of skirts for Pup2 and even a messenger bag for myself.
- Got up to date with some very important paperwork which has been hanging over me for the last 9 months. Feels good to have it sorted so I am no longer playing catch up
- Rediscovered my card making mojo after a hiatus having the pups
- Learning more and more about what makes me tick so I can get the best out of myself; actively enjoying a more positive attitude
- Best of all took the plunge and started a blog. I now have two followers which makes me very happy indeed :)
